2027 Mercedes-Benz GLC Facelift Spied With Star-Motif Headlights
Redesigned in 2022, the GLC prepares for a mid-cycle refresh that brings forth the star-motif signature lighting introduced by the redesigned CLA. But weirdly enough, the first prototypes of the facelifted GLC don't have starry taillights.

Pictured in GLC SUV and GLC Coupe flavors, the facelift is masked up front exclusively. In addition to revised front lighting units, we can also see that Mercedes-Benz designers worked their magic on the radiator grille and bumper. An interior update should be on the menu, especially when you remember that the CLA is available with a passenger screen.

Similar to the CLA, the internal combustion GLC should receive fourth-generation MBUX infotainment with the Mercedes-Benz Operating System. The compact sedan is equipped with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and 14 inches of touchscreen infotainment, with the optional passenger display matching the central screen's diagonal.

Currently running third-gen MBUX infotainment, the GLC is also primed to receive MBUX Surround Navigation and MB.DRIVE Parking Assist. On the powertrain front, German media reports that both the AMG versions will be discontinued in 2026. Similar to the C 43 and C 63, the succeeding models are getting an electrified inline-six powertrain.

Mattias Geisen, the board member for sales and marketing, clearly stated that six cylinders are coming to certain AMGs, implicitly the 43 and 63 versions of the C-Class and GLC-Class. Whether the AMG-enhanced M256 sixer will be joined by a plug-in hybrid or a 48-volt system, we don't know yet.

The AMG version of the M256 already powers the likes of the GT 43, CLE 53, and E 53 HYBRID, with the latter packing a combined 604 horsepower in boost mode. Lower down the spectrum, the GLC SUV and GLC Coupe should continue to rely on four-pot engines with either plug-in hybrid or 48-volt assistance.
In the automaker's home market, the most frugal specification is the GLC 300 de 4MATIC. A plug-in hybrid 2.0-liter turbo diesel with all-wheel drive, this crossover is rated 0.45 liters per 100 kilometers (522.7 miles per gallon) in the WLTP, with electric range topping 117 kilometers (73 miles) on a full charge of the 23.4-kWh battery.

Most or all current powertrain options will be updated to meet Euro 7 regulations, with Mercedes-Benz denying the BMW engine deal rumor that was first reported by German business publication Manager Magazin. The report claimed that Mercedes was in advanced talks with BMW to purchase B48 engines for plug-in hybrid applications.

Markus Schafer, the chief technical officer of Mercedes, denied the rumor, claiming that the Mercedes-Benz FAME engine family was designed with Euro 7 in mind. Having cleared that up, the GLC is Mercedes' best-selling model worldwide.

Although the Stuttgart-based automaker does not publish global sales figures for individual models, we do know that Mercedes-Benz USA dealers moved 64,163 units in the United States of America in 2024. In this part of the world, the mid-sized GLE SUV and GLE Coupe sell marginally better, with Mercedes-Benz USA reporting 67,928 deliveries in 2024.
