It also has portal axles just like the XL 800. But this G has one thing that makes it truly unique. A feature you can pretend makes your mammoth G-Wagen a more practical beast: The XLP is a pickup truck.
Brabus starts its monster conversion with the Mercedes-AMG G63. From there, it transforms the entire chassis of the G. This is a model the company first built in 2020, and it is the real deal. Officially permitted by German transport authorities as a pickup, not some sketchy build of questionable construction.
Chassis Extension Adds 20 Inches Wheelbase For New Pickup Bed
The XLP gets a new frame extension made by Brabus that pushes the rear axle back by 19.7 inches. The total length is now 209 inches, which means there is room for actual cargo in the bed. Though it's more likely that it will haul sailboat fuel or downhill ski power than hay or mulch.
Brabus designed its own new bedsides and the back panel for the passenger compartment. It uses a mix of steel and carbon fiber parts to complete this incredible truck. The bed floor is a more natural composite; the same soft teak wood material that Brabus uses on its high-performance boats.
Brabus builds its own front suspension with better wheel articulation. On the XLP 800 Adventure, it uses KW suspension with adjustable damping and ride height, with in-cabin adjustment of the shocks.
The XLP 800 Adventure gets a widebody kit from Brabus, pushing the wheels and tires out even farther. The truck comes with a Brabus hood, grille, and front bumper, with the bumper incorporating a 10,000-pound winch.
4.0-Liter V8 Now Makes 788 HP
Under that carbon hood, Brabus has tweaked the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. It now makes 788 horsepower and 737 lb-ft, more than 200 hp over stock. It can do 0-62 mph in 4.8 seconds, though it is still limited to 130 mph flat-out.
The outside is all about aggression, but the cabin is about light and luxury. The company's signature double diamond quilting is stitched into the sky-blue leather that covers nearly every surface in the cabin. A little bit of carbon trim sets off the light blue, a shade that is lovely but will probably help put your detailer's kids through college.
Brabus says that with this beast, you can go anywhere. Though they're probably not going much further off-road than the stone entryway of the Casino de Monte-Carlo, they might see some sand dune action in Dubai.
As far as the price, this won't set you back as much as you might expect. Brabus is asking €750,867.60, or about $840,000. Plus shipping from Germany. That's before you start making your own custom demands, which Brabus is more than happy to fulfill.
