Gunther Werks Enters the Aftermarket Tuning Industry With 911 Turbo S Carbon Aero Package
Similar to Singer Vehicle Design, the peeps at Gunther Werks made a name for themselves by restomodding 911s with utmost attention to detail. With the introduction of a GW9-branded carbon aero package for the 992.1-phase Turbo S, the California-based remanufacturer has entered the aftermarket tuning industry as well.

The aerodynamic package in question is an eight-piece affair that wouldn't have been possible without Vorsteiner. Known equally for its precision-engineered wheels and carbon-fiber upgrades, Vorsteiner helped Gunther Werks with high-quality prepreg formed using autoclave technology.

Described as being aerospace-grade carbon fiber, the prepreg in question is also said to be up to 30% stiffer and stronger than wet carbon fiber. Developed with the OEM mounting points in mind, the aero-enhancing pieces comprise a rear wing, a rear diffuser, side skirts, side and front intake trim, a front spoiler, winglets, and side fins to boot.

The side intake trim apparently increases the overall airflow into the factory intake system, whereas the front spoiler's neat-looking side fins enhance high-speed stability. Available as standalone parts as well, these carbon-fiber pieces are not exactly cheap.

As per the company's website, the front spoiler with side fins will set prospective customers back anything from 8,995 to 9,895 dollars. The difference in pricing can be explained by the finish, namely gloss carbon by default or satin-finish carbon fiber as an option.

$11,995 to $13,195 buys you the front spoiler with aggressive-looking winglets, whereas $3,995 to $4,395 is the price of the winglets on their own. The front intake trim adds 3,995 to 4,395 dollars to the grand total, and the side intake trim is similarly priced.
Carbon-fiber side skirts? Make that another 5,995 to 6,595 bucks. Out back, the diffuser and wing are 10,995 to 12,095 and 11,995 to 13,915 dollars, respectively. As if that wasn't sufficiently expensive, Gunther Works can also spruce up the 992.1-phase Turbo S with a set of GW9-916 forged magnesium wheels.

Machined from magnesium, the monoblock wheels reduce unsprung mass, therefore resulting in better acceleration, cornering, and braking performance. Measuring 20 by 9 inches up front and 21 by 12 inches at the rear axle, said wheels are priced at 16,580 dollars for a set of four. Big yikes, indeed!

Then again, Porsche is known for its hideously expensive options. As far as the Turbo S version of the Neunelfer is concerned, the Exclusive Manufaktur Paint to Sample Plus option is a staggering 37,180 dollars. The Exclusive Manufaktur Exterior Sport Package retails at 15,330 bucks at the moment of reporting, and that's on top of the $230,400 starting price.

Later this year, the Turbo and Turbo S will be updated with a hybridized turbo six-pot boxer. While it's not presently clear if the new powertrain is built around the 3.6-liter lump of the Carrera GTS, there is no denying that Porsche has more power and torque in the offing for the facelifted 911 Turbo and 911 Turbo S.
