Huge, intimidating, and weird. These are two epithets that can describe what comes out of the Dartz laboratory, currently located in Riga, Latvia. The firm has exported vehicles to the US before. They were ordered and customized mostly by celebrities and individually homologated for the US roads.
It's not just looks that Dartz is about. They offer military-grade armor protection on the vehicles they roll out, together with over-the-top trims such as diamonds, animal skin, even glasses and ultra-expensive Latvian vodka, with six- or even seven-figure pricing for a single bottle.
Despite sky-high prices, there is demand in the US for the vehicles and the vodka both. So, the firm will now officially export its models to the US and plans to even produce them here for the local market.
Dartz doesn't disclose much about the move that they are planning to make, but they reveal that they are considering setting up a production facility somewhere in Florida. The Latvian company has already signed several dealerships located on both the West and East Coasts.
If the looks of the SUV seem familiar, that is because you have already seen it in the 2012 comedy "The Dictator," starring Sacha Baron Cohen and Megan Fox.
The first Dartz model to officially set wheels on American soil will be the Black Stallion Type C from Dartz's Prombron brand. The first customer vehicles to arrive in the US will come from the brand's plant in Riga. One of them, which will be used for promotional activities and events, has already made it to Los Angeles and will embark on a tour across the country. The tour will come to an end in Miami, Florida.
Those who fall for the motorized monster can already place an order, but pricing is still under wraps. Customers can go for either a Hummer H2 or a Mercedes-Benz GLS chassis. The GLS comes with a twin-turbocharged V8 engine, tuned up to produce a massive 1,500 horsepower.
A more aggressively styled version of the Black Stallion Type C, dubbed the Prombron Iron Diamond CLV and based on the Lamborghini Urus, is also on the way. This one will retain the super-SUV's 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine but with a power upgrade.
Unlimited customization and a cabin inspired by the yachts owned by the late shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis are part of the plan. They are also considering a Landaulet version with an automated soft-top protecting the occupants at the rear.
